Location: London, ON
Tuition:$62,000 (Domestic)
Duration: 12 months
Full Time Enrolment: 173
Average GMAT: 648
Minimum Work Experience Required: 2 years
Notable Rankings: #2 – Business Week International Schools, Top Canadian School – Wall Street Journal, 47th – Financial Times Top 100
Brief Overview of the School: Ivey has consistently been one of the top ranked MBA schools, not just in Canada, but world-wide. Ivey students were pretty much assured of walking out of the program with a well paying job at one of the top organizations in Canada and beyond.
However, Ivey has recently taken a somewhat radical departure from the normal MBA program format. They introduced a Cross-Enterprise Leadership program and brought the length of the MBA program down to 12 months. The new course structure is case-based and attempts to integrate all the traditional business subjects into a comprehensive learning approach through case work. Students are still able to specialize in:
Finance
Marketing
Corporate Strategy & Leadership
Entrepreneurship
Health Sector
International Management
The Ivey MBA also includes a major team based consulting project for an actual business. While Ivey grads have traditionally fared very well in the job market, there is some debate as to whether or not their new direction will produce students of the same calibre. It will be interesting to see how Ivey students perform on the job market and whether or not the switch away from the common 2 year MBA program works out in the long run.
Notable Alumni
Tim MacDonald, MBA'88
President of A.T. Kearney Ltd.
Henry Cheng, MBA'72
Managing Director, New World Development Company Ltd.
Andrew Chisholm, MBA'85
Managing Director, Goldman, Sachs & Company
